Computer Service (dallas): Tips for Choosing the Right Computer Service
There's always something new to deal with when you have a computer network. Whether you have four or fifteen workstations, if your system has a virus or is acting bizarre, you want it handled fast. If you work from home a small problem can easily translate into a crisis. A good computer repair service respects how frantic one can feel when they're cut off from the online world. They also understand the frustration of 'down time', even for a short period of time. A good computer service company will work hard to minimize your inconvenience.
Does your computer repair service provide helpful tips to keep your computer clean from clutter, viruses, and especially spyware? That should be a standard practice, in my opinion.
Here are a few tips that can save you big headaches:
Always have an Internet Security Suite of some kind. There are a variety of good products to choose from that have reasonable price tags. The following products all cost roughly $50 annually. They cover up to three computers and deliver great value!
Trend Micro Internet Security 2009, Windows Live OneCare, McAfee Total Protection 2009, or Norton Internet Security 2009, work well and are worth every penny.
Always backup your documents, music, pictures and emails. Backup once or twice a month, minimally. There are many products that perform well. 'Memeo Backup' makes backup changes instantly and maintains as many backups as you need. I recommend it be used with External USB Disk or NAS (320Gigabytes USB; cost $80.).
Run 'Disk Defragmenter' for your hard drive at least once a month. If you purchase the Live OneCare product from Microsoft, this feature is included as part of the software maintenance.
Clean up your Internet Browsing History monthly. To perform this task go to the 'tools' menu in Internet Explorer and select 'Internet Options'. Next, under 'browsing history' click on the 'delete' button. Then click on 'delete' next to 'select temporary Internet files and cookies'. Close all open windows.
Set a regular schedule to empty your 'deleted emails' folder, and your 'Recycle Bin' on your desktop
As for all of those applications that start when you turn on your PC, MSCONFIG can eliminate that nuisance. You can run MSCONFIG from the 'start' menu by selecting 'run' and typing MSCONFIG. Next, select the 'OK' button. Go to the 'Startup Tab' and un-check any application you don’t want to start when you turn on your computer.
A good computer repair service will save you time and money by teaching you how to perform simple tasks on your own, if you are inclined. If you want them to do everything, that's what they're here for as well.
These tips will keep your system humming and minimize the risk of a crash or difficulty that could shut down your operation at an important moment. It's important for your computer service to care about your business; choose wisely.
