The Little Robot That Could
As I sit here typing this article I am also vaccuming. How do I do this, well my little robotic vaccum cleaner is doing the work for me. You may ask, how lazy can a person get if they no longer want to vaccum but I look at it as multitasking. Vaccuming is one of the few things that I like about house cleaning so I haven't disgarded by old vaccum cleaner.
I have a passion for trying out new products so when a few years back I noticed this little robot I was inticed but still somewhat skeptical. I thought, how could this small round disc vaccum with just a push of a button. It's out there and it's Roomba by IRobot.
I didn't purchase Roomba right away, the price was a little above my budget at the time. I decided to talk to the team/family and get their advice and we all agreed that Roomba would probably get stuck on shoes and things that lay on the floor from time to time. I say I agreed but deep down I knew that I would want to try out this robot if the price went down.
Time passed and I was proud of myself for not purchasing a Roomba right away. I had a vaccum cleaner and it worked fine. Everything was good and I wasn't giving in to yet another gadget temptation. I thought that maybe my desire to try out new things had subsided a bit, yeah right. My weakness reappeared when I saw a woman on a T.V. talk show, the show was Oprah I think. I remember the woman speaking while two Roombas did the vaccuming for her. She seem to be meticulous about keeping her home clean. I was hooked and I would start my Roomba research.
I went on the IRobot website and watched the video on there. The robot looked pretty simple to operate. Roomba even came with a little gadget that put up an invisible barrier so it would go down stairs. This I found too good to be true. I decided to read reviews about Roomba. The least expensive Roomba the Roomba Red had excellent ratings. I was in heaven and ready to purchase!
I put in my order and waited in anticipation for my Roomba Red to arrive. Finally the day came and I felt like the guy in The Christmas Movie that was all excited to get his leg lamp reward. I opened the box, so far so good, the instructions stated that Roomba had to be charged for at least twelve hours I think it was. I couldn't wait I just wanted to try my robot out. Roomba went a little bit and stopped I wasn't discouraged because I hadn't been patient enough to charge it and Roomba even worked with a weak battery.
Twelve hours later the moment of truth had arrived and I wondered if this product would really work. I pushed the button and the team and I sat there watching our Roomba on it's maiden voyage. Roomba worked even better that we had anticipated. The robot was easy to use, it was easy to clean out the dirt bin, Roomba was quiet, it picked up so much dirt and dust with every cleaning, and Roomba worked for a lengthy amount of time. The head team member/my husband suggested that we try out the gadget with the invisible barrier that came with the machine. We put the little gadget on the floor, pushed the button, and Roomba would not go past the barrier. I was thrilled!
I was so pleased with my robot that I wrote the CEO of IRobot and told him. I received a nice thank you letter and many coupons from IRobot. I purchased two more Roombas for family members that year for Christmas. They also love their robots.
You may wonder why I have written so much about this product but I just believe in a product that works and thanks to this website I can express that.
